AhlulBayt News Agency (ABNA): The third International Conference of “AhlulBayt (a.s.) Media Narrators” commenced Thursday morning, May 1, 2025, in Qom, coinciding with the Ten Days of Dignity (from the first day of Dhu al-Qadah marked as Lady Masoumeh’s (a.s.) birth anniversary, to Dhu al-Qadah 11, coinciding with Imam Reza’s (a.s.) birth anniversary). The event was held at the conference hall of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) World Assembly, with the participation of media professionals and intellectuals from Iran and several African countries. It has been organized by the AhlulBayt (a.s.) International News Agency (ABNA).
In the conference, Nigerian media activist Ibrahim Abu Aqil underscored the significant role of media activities in disseminating the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and the essence of true Islam. “If sufficient importance is given to media work, it can greatly contribute to spreading the teachings of the AhlulBayt (a.s.) and authentic Islam. In Nigeria, many young people are active on social media and in the media sphere, but they are not having the positive impact they should,” he stated.
“Achieving the goal of conveying the truth to the public requires careful planning,” he added.
Among the obstacles in this path, he pointed to a lack of awareness in media management, insufficient religious knowledge, and the absence of institutions dedicated to training and supporting media activists.
Abu Aqil also noted the economic difficulties that hinder young people from engaging effectively in online platforms. “There are many educated and intelligent individuals who are capable of impactful media work in the virtual space, but due to financial challenges, they are unable to fulfill their potential,” he said.
As a solution, he emphasized the need to restructure and organize training workshops for African youth, adding that with proper education on professional media management and support for the African clergy, seminary students, in media initiatives, these problems can be addressed.
